Why do star sign dates vary by a day between sources?
The boundaries follow the sun’s actual position, which drifts slightly with leap years. Anyone born within a day of a boundary — a "cusp" birthday — will see different answers depending on the source.
Is the Chinese zodiac based on the calendar year?
Here, yes. Traditionally the animal changes at Lunar New Year, which falls between late January and mid-February. Anyone born in January or early February should check the lunar date to be sure.
Are birthstones standardised?
