Nothing to compare yet

Paste text into both boxes and the differences will appear here.

Two drafts of a contract, two versions of a config file, the paragraph before and after an edit — spotting what actually changed by eye is slow and unreliable. Paste both sides and the differences are marked for you.

How to use

  1. 1 Paste the original on the left and the revised version on the right.
  2. 2 Additions appear in green, deletions in red.
  3. 3 Switch between line, word and character mode depending on how fine you need the comparison.
  4. 4 Use "Copy diff" to paste the result into a message or ticket.

Frequently asked questions

Which comparison mode should I use?

Line mode suits code and configuration, where a change belongs to a whole line. Word mode reads best for prose. Character mode catches single-letter typos but produces noisy output on long text.

Why do identical-looking texts show as different?

Usually invisible characters — a non-breaking space pasted from a web page, a trailing space, or Windows line endings against Unix ones. The Whitespace Cleaner tool will strip those out first.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. The comparison runs in your browser, which is why you can safely paste contracts or source code here.
