Interbank reference rates. Actual exchange costs include a provider margin.
Rates shown here are the interbank reference — the wholesale figure banks quote each other. Whatever you actually pay when exchanging money will be worse, and the gap is where the provider makes its money.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my bank’s rate different?
This is the interbank reference rate. Banks and exchange bureaux add a margin — typically 1–3% for cards, more for airport counters. Use this figure to judge how large that margin is.
How often do the rates update?
Roughly daily. That is fine for planning and comparison, but not for anything trading-related, where rates move continuously through the day.
Which is cheaper — card or cash?
Cards usually win on the rate but may add a foreign transaction fee. Always decline the "pay in your own currency" offer at the terminal: that conversion is done by the merchant’s provider at a notably worse rate.
