For mockups only. Placeholder text that reaches production reads as a mistake.
Layouts need text before the real copy exists, and typing "asdf" repeatedly tells you nothing about how the design breathes. Latin lorem ipsum keeps readers from reading; English filler is better when stakeholders need to judge the shape of real sentences.
How to use
- 1 Choose Latin or English.
- 2 Pick the unit — paragraphs, sentences or words.
- 3 Set how many you need.
- 4 Press generate and copy the result.
Frequently asked questions
Where does lorem ipsum come from?
It is scrambled Latin taken from a first-century BC text by Cicero, in use by printers since the 1500s. It has been mangled enough that it means nothing, which is exactly the point.
Why not just use real text?
Because reviewers read it. Meaningful copy pulls attention to the words instead of the layout, and half-finished real copy invites arguments about wording during a design review.
Is it safe to ship placeholder text?
No — it reliably escapes into production and looks like a bug. Search your project for "lorem" before release.
