The exact artwork for each emoji varies by device and operating system.

Emoji keyboards are easy on a phone and awkward on a desktop, and special characters like ≈, →, € and ± are worse. Type what you are looking for, click the character, and it is on your clipboard.

How to use

  1. 1 Choose the emoji or symbol tab.
  2. 2 Type what you are looking for — "smile", "heart", "arrow".
  3. 3 Click a character to copy it immediately.
  4. 4 Characters you click also collect below, so you can copy several at once.

Frequently asked questions

Why does an emoji look different on my friend’s phone?

The character is standard but the artwork is not. Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung each draw their own set, so the same code point looks noticeably different across devices.

Why does a character show as an empty box?

Your device has no font covering that character. Newer emoji take time to arrive in system fonts, and older operating systems never receive them.

Are emoji safe to use in filenames or code?

Technically yes, practically no. Many build tools, terminals and older systems mishandle them. Keep them to text where they are meant to be read.
