Where should I put the watermark?
A corner keeps the picture readable, which is right when you mainly want attribution. If you actually want to deter reuse, tile it across the whole image — a corner mark takes seconds to crop out.
What opacity works best?
Around 30–50%. Below that it disappears against busy areas and can be cloned out easily; above that it starts to ruin the photograph you are trying to show.
Can a watermark be removed?
Yes, with enough effort — AI inpainting has made it much easier. Treat it as a deterrent and a claim of authorship, not as protection. Keep your originals.
