Test area
Sustained rapid clicking strains your wrist and wears out mouse switches.
Clicks per second matters in a handful of games and nowhere else, which has not stopped it becoming a thing people compete over. Six to eight is typical; above ten usually means a technique rather than raw speed.

Frequently asked questions
What is a normal click speed?
Six to eight clicks per second with ordinary clicking. Ten or more usually involves jitter clicking or butterfly clicking — techniques that trade your wrist for a couple of extra clicks.
Does my mouse affect the result?
Yes. Lighter switches actuate with less travel, and some mice have double-click issues that inflate the count. A worn switch registering two clicks per press is a fault, not a score.
Is fast clicking bad for me?
Sustained rapid clicking strains the wrist and fingers and shortens the life of the switch. It is fine as a curiosity, not as a habit.
